Hospitality exchange

You stay as a guest with your home exchange partner and they stay as a guest in your home at a different time. Some people like this variation because they enjoy the social aspects of meeting and actually living with people. It's one of the best ways to learn about other countries and cultures while making friends throughout the world. It's a flexible way to exchange because both parties can travel at different times. And for first time exchangers, you don't need to worry about someone in your home while you're not there.

Vacation Home Exchange

A vacation home is a second home or place that is not your primary home. It may be a vacation condo, villa, timeshare, or home in the mountains or at the beach. You stay in someone else's vacation home while they stay in your vacation home. This is a great way to exchange because you can add variety by vacationing in other places. Yet you can be fairly secure that your partner will treat your vacation home as well as his own. This is a way to leverage your condo or timeshare without having to rent it to a stranger. As with Hospitality Exchange, both you and your partner can vacation at separate times.

Indirect Home Exchange

Few people want to make every vacation a Home Exchange vacation. Maybe you'd like to go to Club Med, take a tour through China, or spend several quality weeks with your mother-in-law (:_.
An indirect exchange is when you allow another home exchanger to stay in your home while you're on vacation to Club Med or wherever. Then on your next vacation, you stay at your exchange partner's home while he vacations somewhere else.
